It’s possible to identify different types of diseases or health problems just by looking at the hands. The hands are very important work tools for all truck drivers, so whenever you can, look at them carefully to see if your bodies are sending you any warning signal, such as:
– Circulation problems
Numb fingertips can indicate both cardiovascular disease and also that there is a pinched nerve.
– Lack of vitamin
The presence of tingling in the hands is usually associated with a deficiency of vitamin E, B12 or B1. A blood test will determine if this suspicion is correct and a doctor can prescribe a vitamin supplement according to the case of each trucker.
– Column problems
There is a connection between the problems in the spine and the nerve tracts that reach the hands. Truckers remain seated for a long time in their long trips in a truck favoring to have problems. Therefore, it is advisable to stretch in each truck stop to strengthen the muscles of the back doing physical exercises.
– Carpal tunnel syndrome
It is a tingling sensation that appears mainly when the truck driver goes to rest and lie down leaving his joints relaxed. If it is associated with pain and numbness it is very possible that a medical treatment is immediately needed because it could indicate that the nerves in the arm suffered some type of damage.
– Exhaustion
Truckers’ hands suffer a lot, both for the type of work involved in loading and unloading, when necessary, and for driving for long hours with the arms in the same uncomfortable position. These factors can cause tingling in the hands as a result of the pressure exerted on the nerves of the hand. It is advised to use the proper equipment to protect your wrists and hands to reduce the damage caused by your work.
– Buerger’s disease
Numbness in the fingers of the hands and presenting a bluish or whitish color may be a sign of this Buerger disease (thromboangiitis obliterans). The blood vessels of the feet and hands are the most affected, which can be blocked by blood clots and cause thrombosis.
– Diabetes
If the trucker experiences a tingling sensation that comes from the feet and ends up in their hands, it may be that he is diabetic, since the reduction in circulation associated with diabetes can have effects on the nerve endings.
Truck drivers, if you identify any of these signs visit your doctor.
