Digitalization has finally reached truck tire inspections, thanks to a game-changing solution: Anyline’s tread scanner. This tool turns any smartphone into a precision measuring device using artificial intelligence and computer vision. Just point your phone’s camera at the tire, and the app instantly creates a digital model that records tread depth and sidewall information.

According to the company, this innovation drastically cuts inspection time and delivers far more consistent data. Results are stored and shared digitally, linking each tire’s condition to the truck’s VIN or license plate. This lets fleet operators stay ahead of the game—knowing exactly when it’s time to replace or retread a tire—boosting performance and extending tire life.

Anyline CEO Lukas Kinigadner highlighted that this system allows fleets to “monitor tire health in real time and make maintenance decisions based on data, not guesswork.” The solution works with both commercial truck and passenger vehicle tires and can be integrated at every stage of the inspection process—through a mobile SDK, a web interface, or a cloud API.

The numbers show why this upgrade is needed. A 2024 survey revealed that 66% of fleets still rely on paper logs, 48% depend on simple visual checks, and fewer than 10% use precise tools like digital scanning. Even more striking, only 18% of fleets integrate tread data into their management systems, which limits analysis and strategic decision-making.

Founded in Vienna in 2013, Anyline has become a leader in mobile data capture powered by AI. Their technology is already used by manufacturers, distributors, and service shops to scan DOT codes, VINs, license plates, and barcodes with off-the-shelf mobile devices.

Adopting tools like this points to a future where tire inspections will be faster, more accurate, and free from human error. In an industry where road safety and uptime are everything, going digital could become a key competitive edge—and a serious money-saver—when it comes to preventive maintenance.
