This is the conclusion of the survey performed by Trucker Path with a pool of 5,400 drivers. 80% of the surveyed affirmed that the ELDs are making harder for them to find a place to park their trucks. Carriers are experiencing the consequence of the low flexibility from the ELD mandate as they have to spend extra time searching for some place to park. This occurred especially during the evening, according to the comparison data from this year and last year.
This problem occupies first place in the list of stressful problems of a truck driver’s work, surpassing HOS (Hours of service) and ELDs. Unfortunately, truck drivers recognized that they have to violate hours of service regulation because of not being able to find any place to park and also admitted to park their CMVs in locations in which they aren’t authorized.
Opposing the truck drivers’ point of view that parking spots or truck spots have decreased, Trucker Path app affirms the opposite, showing that there are more spots to park compared to last year. In the app report, it’s possible to verify their suggestions to solve the truck parking issue, optimize the available parking places, enhance the capacity, and provide more hours of service and flexibility while keep creating more spots to park.
