Adopting zero-emission trucks could be a challenge for owner-operators and small fleets for different reasons such of their limited financing, huge upfront costs or the complexity that requires a charging plan. In order to make easier this process, and the transition to zero emission tech, the California Air Resources Board will release a pilot program, the Innovative Small e-Fleet pilot.
The focus of this program, that counts with a budget of $25 million, would be providing a variety of solutions to nonprofit trucking companies, with maximum of 20 trucks, that generate a revenue per year lower than 15 million, for making the transition to zero-emissions technology such as:
This pilot program, which is the larger in relation to Zero-Emission trucks, faces the unattended needs of small fleets to help them to be prepared to comply with zero-emission specifications that will be required by the upcoming Advanced Clean Fleets rule. The formal release of the program will take place at 1 p.m. on August 31 and will also open voucher requests of the program for eligible small fleets.
