The Log books technology facilitates truckers work

Dear faithful readers of this prestigious magazine, I want to inform you about how technology is changing the course of transportation. Today we will talk about the newest thing, the electronic log book.
This new invention was created to meet the regulations of the Department of Transportation (DOT) and facilitate the commercial truck drivers’ work.
Phase 1: All drivers, whether independent or working for a company, who continue filling in their log books the old fashioned way (in handwriting via the paper log book), will have to change to the electronic log book (ELD). The deadline for this change is December 18, 2017.
Phase 2: All drivers, whether independent or working for a company, who are using equipment integrated into the truck that automatically register the record (AOBRDS) will have to change to the electronic log book (ELD). The deadline is December 16, 2019, two more years than those who are using the paper log book.
Phase 3: All drivers, whether independent or working for a company, will have to use a mandatory log book from December 17, 2019 to meet the regulations (ELD Rule).
The new electronic logbook system must be certified, registered, and approved by the Federal Motor Safety Administration (FMCSA).
My recommendation is to become familiar with the operating system. For many drivers this change will come with many great benefits, while for others, who are unfamiliar with the technology, may find it a bit difficult, but we’ll have to do it. We must think positive and look for information about it. The technology has reached the transportation sector and there is no going back.
The new generation of commercial drivers are more adapted to these changes because of the simple fact that they grew up with access to technology. Since they were children they used computers, laptops, tablets, and mobile phones. I hope you find this article helpful. I will be sharing more articles with information on “Transportation and Technology,” so you can see progress in the transportation system.
