Justin Bieber rejected a $5 million offer to perform at an event during the Republican Convention after LeBron James urged him to decline and his manager even contemplated quitting. A promoter for the convention assured Bieber the event was not supposed to be "political," nor would he be endorsing Trump or any GOP policies.
The $5 million payout was supported by GOP donors and would have represented the single largest payday ever for Bieber, who seriously considered accepting the offer (partly because he is Canadian and has no skin in the game). However Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, turns out to be a huge Clinton supporter and this was an immediate problem. Out of principle, he told with Bieber he could do the show, but he would no longer be able to represent him if he did.
