BEWARE OF COMPANIES PRETENDING TO BE GOVERNMENT AGENCIES

Dear carrier friends, as always it is a great pleasure to be able to address you with information and be able to answer your questions.

By the end of the year, it is necessary to renew some permits, such as the IFTA, UCR, or permits for states such as New Mexico, Kentucky, and New York. Many companies try to take advantage of this situation and charge anyone who has an USDOT number, indicating that this person must pay their 2017 permits. They send a paper along with the collection and many times indicate that their operations will be suspended if the corresponding payments are not made.

Government agencies such as USDOT, CHP, DMV, IFTA, FMCSA, etc., never send collections, nor do they send you messages. You must pay it on your own meaning you must know when to renew your permits and the price of each renewal.

Now at the moment, I have in my possession a paper sent by a company to one of my clients and it looks very similar to the letters that the USDOT sends, but it is a counterfeit. It says that my client must renew his UCR and pay the amount of $184.00, however the UCR only costs $85.00, which means that they are charging an extra $100.00 for their work and with no guarantee that they will do it.

When a letter arrives, never pay for anything before consulting your agent. And if you have any questions, call me at 909.390.3656 or send the paper that you may be suspicious of counterfeit by fax to: 909.390.1860. I will gladly help and inform you to not make the mistake of losing your money.
